Anne-Marie with Devangana to Chokelao Bagh

As we enter, we experience a total change of environment and forget that we are actually in the desert !
First, let me tell you that Chokelao Bagh was laid out in 1739  and  further rearranged by Maharaja Takhat Singh in 1844.

It is the only existing example of a rajput garden and is unique in its three terraces displaying different themes.

On the first level, is the Chokelao Palace terrace (later to be converted into a restaurant ) overlooking the garden.
From here, you’ll see, on the second level, the flower garden desplaying a colorful array of flowers.

Amazingly, among them, you’ll discover  cornflowers, poppies, petunias and sunflowers : they manage to blossom here on the outskirts of the Thar Desert !

On the next level, along the carefully maintained parcels, you’ll find lush banana plants and you’ll be amazed to discover their huge purple flowers and big banana clusters !

It has a lovely, fresh fragance reminding me of the perfume «  Eau d’Orange Verte » by Hermès.

Chers vous deux,Merci du fond du coeur pour votre magnifique présentation et les animations ...La porte qui s'ouvre sur ce jardin secret au coeur de l'enceinte de la forteresse contribue à faire partager aux visiteurs du blog un peu du mystère et de la beauté de Chokelao Bagh !J'en profite pour signaler aux amateurs de jardin mais aussi de miniatures indiennes, la superbe exposition de peintures royales de Jodhpur qui se tiendra à partir du 28 mai prochain et jusqu'à la fin août au British Museum à Londres.Elle est intitulée : " Garden & Cosmos ".A bientôt vous deux et plein de gros bisous,Bonne fête du 1r mai !  AM
